Basic White Bread 

Basic white bread is also known as box bread and it is one of the easiest breads to bake at home as the base for many recipes, from snacks to elaborate dishes.

Basic White Bread Recipe

Ingredients

6 cups wheat flour

2 cups warm water

2/3 cup sugar

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast

  • Dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast.
  • Let proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam and mix oil and salt into it.
  • Add one flour cup at a time, mixing well and knead dough on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl turning the dough to coat with oil.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise until doubled its size.
  • Punch dough down, kneading for a few minutes, and dividing in half.
  • Shape into loaves, placing then into greased loaf pans.
  • Allow the dough rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes.
