
Spinach Bread
Often considered an appetizer, spinach bread is an artisan bread used to prepare Italian sandwiches, but also ideal to serve with lamb, chicken, mushroom stew, and sliced tomatoes.
Vegetarians recommend serving it with homemade mayonnaise and Boston lettuce for a unique culinary experience.
Spinach Bread Recipe
Ingredients include
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1/2 cups water
1 cup boiled or steamed spinach
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons softened butter
2 teaspoons milk
1-teaspoon salt
1.25-teaspoon yeast
- Combine the spinach with 1/2 cup water, stirring and tearing until the spinach is shredded and the water is thoroughly green.
- Mix all the other ingredients apart to make the dough
- Let dough rises covered for about 5 minutes checking its consistency with a toothpick because the dough needs to be entirely cohesive
- Work with the dough until it is smooth and less sticky, adding flour and water if necessary
- Roll up the dough and bake on greased sheets at 350ºF for 30 to 40 minutes.
Slice and serve hot.
