Rice Maker Features
Electric Rice Cookers
are pretty darn simple machines, but like
any appliance the manufacturers have found
ways to add and improve on the basics.
When choosing your rice cooker take the
following features into account. Some
are quite handy; some are not so vital
as to warrant the extra money spent. We’ll
let you decide which are which.
· Cup Quantity: From a
tiny 1 cup or 3 cup rice cooker to a medium
sized 8 cup rice cooker to 12+ cups, if
you need it, they make it; just be sure
you need it.
· Keep Warm Mode: Some
rice cookers keep the rice warm for up
to 12 hours, but the draw back is that
they don’t turn off by themselves.
· Non-Stick Pot: It isn’t
as difficult to clean cooked rice off
an aluminum cooking pan as some claim,
but non-stick pans mean less time soaking
& scrubbing.
· “Cool” Body: The best
rice cooker has outer body that stays
cool enough to touch, preventing accidental
burns.
· Retractable Cord: It
winds up inside the rice cooker, making
it easier to store and deal with generally.
· Latching Top: It’s nice
to be able to carry the pan around without
spilling steaming hot rice on your dinner
guests (assuming you like your dinner
guests).
· Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker:
The ultimate in rice cooker technology,
it knows what kind of rice your cooking
and compensates for your mistakes, among
other things.
